Dear Ron,I don't know whether this information will help or hinder you but I "collect" Wheeldon data particularly of families in the Midlands of England,including Derbyshire, where my own Wheeldon ancestors hail from.As far as I know they are not linked directly or otherwise to those in the Cromford area although a few lived in the Wirksworth area.
I have a family which looks very similar to the one you refer to. Joseph Wheeldon married Alice Holmes at Wirksworth on 14th Sept 1801.I've found *11 children for this couple; *James #11 is listed as their son but as Alice woyld have been about 47 years old at his birth, it may be that James is a child of one of the daughters?
1:Samuel Wheeldon born 18th Feb 1802, bapt. at Cromford,St Mary on 17th March 1802 and apparently buried in Cromford on 19th March 1820, aged 18.
2:Sarah Wheeldon born 22nd Sept 1803, bapt at Cromford, St Mary on 16th Oct 1803.
3:Thomas Wheeldon born 4th Nov 1805, bapt 1st Dec 1805 at Cromford,St Mary.
4:Lydia Wheeldon born 15th Dec 1807 at Chesterfield, bapt 10th Jan 1808 at Chesterfield.
5:Anne Wheeldon, bapt 26th Nov 1809 at Old Brampton.
6:Mary Wheeldon born 22nd April 1812,bapt 17th May 1812 at Cromford.
7:Alice Wheeldon born 23rd Sept 1814,bapt 16th Oct 1814 at Cromford.Buried 18th Dec 1835, aged 21.
8:Joseph Wheeldon born 12th Sept 1816,bapt 16th Oct 1816 at Cromford.
9:Hannah Wheeldon born 26th Feb 1821,bapt 18th March 1821 at Cromford Weslyan Chrch.
10:John Wheeldon born 12th July 1823, bapt 17th August 1823 at Cromford.Died 9th July 1891 at Holloway, Derbyshire.
Aged 67.
*11: James Wheeldon born about 1825.
