I am searching on any information for James Wheatley who was born April 1860 in Texas or Tennessee (he listed both on census records). He did not know where his parents were born, so I have very little to go on. Also, I have no idea who his wives were (he had at least 2) as they do not appear on the census records at all, having apparently died between censuses. I'm not even certain I have ALL of his children, since I can't know of any he might have had before 1900 except those in the household with him at that time. Yes, he's been a major pain. I know the family name was pronounced and spelled Wheatley by his daughter Lula Bea, since my grandfather said that that is how she (his mother) spelled it, but the name was spelled on one census record as Whitley, and could have been spelled that way by family members other than James. I have also seen variations such as: Whatley, Wheatly, Whitly, Witly, Weatly, etc.
Here's what little I do have on the guy:
James Wheatley/Whitley [b.Apr 1860 Texas or Tennessee, probably Texas; d.aft1910 probably in Oklahoma. James married (1) Unknown [d.1894-1900]. James married (2) Unknown [d.1900-1910].
James and his first wife had at least the following children:
1. Nancie Wheatley [b.May 1883 Texas].
2. Thomas Wheatley [b.Jun 1887 Texas].
3. Nathan A. Wheatley [b.Mar 1891 Texas] married 1910-1920 probably in Texas to Dorcas A. <surnamed unknown> [b.c1903 Texas].
4*. Lucy Bell Wheatley [b.Mar 1894 Texas] married Henry J. Moore [b.Jun 1888 Texas].
5*. Lula Bea Wheatley [b.Mar 1894 Texas; d.aft11 Feb 1920 Oklahoma] married 17 Aug 1909 to Ephram Riley Moore [b.11 Nov 1885 Texas; d.Apr 1965 Oklahoma]. Lula and Lucy were sisters who married brothers Henry and Riley.
James and his second wife had the following child:
6. James Wheatley, Jr. [b.c1905 Texas]
That is the sum total of the information I have on this family, other than certain descendants of Lula (my great-grandmother), Lucy, and Nathan.
I would appreciate any sort of help I could get on these folks.
