I'm hoping to find any information on my ancestor Permelia Wheat. The only information that I have on her directly is that she was born in Virginia. She married Jediah Pannell, and had about 8 children. The only names of the kids that I know of for sure, though, are:
William, born about 1820, in Tennessee
Hezekiah, born 1824, in Tennessee
Susan Mary Minerva, born 1829, in Tennessee
Permelia's husband, Jediah, can be traced to the following Census': 1820 Rutherford County, Tennessee: 1830 White County, Illinois: 1840 Perry County, Missouri: and by 1850, no records of Jediah or Permelia.
Jediah was is South Carolina in 1802 and 1806, as seen on the site below from Pannell family contact. Jediah was born in SC, so he may not have even met her by this point, but that just my guess.
Jediah's children Hezekiah (married to Priscilla Johnson), Susan Mary Minerva (married to Hiram Eggers), and William all ended up in Missouri. William, however, can only be found living in the household of his brother-in-law, Hiram Eggars, on the 1850 Missouri Census. I cannot find William after that.
From information from another contact I made on the Pannell Family site, while in Giles County, TN, Jediah Pannell was allowed $20, then later $43 for maintenance and support. I don't know more about it than what is given on the below link:
Also, does anyone know how popular the name Hezekiah was during this time period? I've seen that there was another Hezekiah Wheat, brother of Basil. Could there be any connection to Permelia naming her son Hezekiah? Her other son, William, was named after her husband's side of the family.
Anyway, any information concerning Permelia would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
