I am trying to determine if John Wheat, son of Brice M. Wheat, is my great-grandfather. On the 1880 Collin Co. TX census, my grandfather John William is listed as the son of J. Wheat. Family sources have the father's name as John. According to the census he would have been born about 1859. John, son of Brice M. Wheat, was born about 1857/58, as he is 12 on the 1870 Tyler Co. TX census. I haven't been able to find any further information on this John. I have seen data on his brothers and sisters, but no marriage or death information for John. Anybody know anything about him? Any information would maybe help me rule him out (or in) as a possibility. Thanks!
