I'm trying to track down info on the William H. Whear family.

He was married to Mary Masters in 1881. Mary is a sister of one of my ancestors. They were married in Hartley Twp, Union Co., Pennsylvania.

I think I found the family in Texas in 1910, but the census film is hard to read, and I'm trying to determine the # of kids born to them.

I'm also trying to trace back to where he was from. I couldn't find any Whear family names in the 1880 census at that county during this time. I find Ware, Weir, etc.

Was there a typical name change of this surname?
