Hamm, George A. was born in Berks county, Penn, Oct 24, 1837 and at age 2 emigrated with his parents, Benjamin and Rachel Hamm to Union county, Indiana. Later to this county. Here a respected citizen for 57 years where he spent most of his time in Harrison, Washington and Clay townships. On Nov 13, 1859 he married Sarah Jane Wharton near Jacksonburg. He leaves his wife in Greensfork and three sisters, Mrs A.M. Hosier of Harrison twp, Mrs Amos Boyer of Altanta, and Mrs John Morrow of Huntington. Past 12 years has lived near Indianapolis as head of the dairy department of Juliette hospital of Marion county. His was a very sudden death. The funeral services were conducted by the Lutheran church of Germantown by Mrs Fred Teas who delivered a most impressive sermon. Six nephews bore the body to the tomb in the cemetery near by.
