Jim,
Everything that you listed about Zach is contained in Zach’s 5/27/1833 pension hearing, wife Sarah’s 7/22/1839 pension hearing , John Young’s statements at Sarah’s hearing and son James Wharton at his 1851 appearance.
The only thing you listed about Sam that I didn’t know was his burial place.
I found the following on HeritageQuest, in a letter dated 2/27/1929 to:

Madam,

I advise you from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim, V. 6488, it appears that Samuel Wharton was born, July 27, 1761, place not stated.
While residing in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, He enlisted in April 1777, and served three months as a private in Captain Frank Coleman’s Company, Colonel Whitehead Coleman’s Virginia Regiment.
He enlisted in July, 1777, served at various times from that date until the siege of York when he was severely wounded by a cannon ball and in consequence of that wound, he received an annual pension from the state of Virginia until the time of his death. The entire length of his service was not less than three and one-half years, details of service, dates and officers’ names are not given.
He died, December 10 or 11, 1841, in Louisa County, Virginia.
The soldier married, March 8, 1786, Letty or Laetitia (sic) Hutcherson, daughter of William and Sarah Hutcherson, of Spotsylvania County, Virginia. She was allowed pension on her application executed June 16, 1842, while a resident of Louisa County, Virginia, aged about seventy-four years. In 1855, she was living in Culpeper County, Virginia.
Their son, John, was a resident of Culpeper Court House, Virginia, in 1842, and of Mitchell Station, Culpeper County, Virginia, in 1855. Daughters are referred to but no names are Shown.
One William Wharton was a resident of Culpeper County, Virginia, in 1843, no relationship stated. Mary B. Wharton and Susan E. Wharton were residents of Culpeper County, Virginia, in 1855, no relationship stated.
