Dave: This printed material confirms what I have concerning Zachariah. FROM: WEST VIRGINIANS IN THE REVOLUTION Va. No. IG58G No. W5487 (both #'s hard to read) WHARTON, ZACHARIAH "Born, Orange County, Virginia March 27, 1760; died in Morgan County, Virginia, March 15, 1835. Married to Sarah Young at Orange Courthouse, Jan. 8, 1788 by the Rev. Sanuders of the Baptist Church. To these were born the following children: NANCY, ELIZSABETH, JOHN, JAMES, SAMUEL,BENJAMIN, ROBERT, NELSON, JOSEPH, WILLIAM AND three others. Wharton enlisted in Spottsylvania County VA. in duty 1783, and served as a private under Captain Coleman, Major Hardman, Colonel Merriweather and General Weeden. Took part in campaigns to Virginia. He attended his brother, Samuel, who was in a hospital receiving treatment for wounds. Soldier received pension in Morgan County, VA. in 1$89. His widow also sought pension and payment appears to have been made to administrator of her estate after her death 2/14/1848. Supporting data was filed case by John Young, brother of Sarah Wharton."
