Jim,
Not sure about news on Nelson and Zachariah. I have nothing new, nothing that I haven’t had for a long time. I thought that I had told you about this long ago. We have the DNA of a known descendant of Samuel and Letitia Wharton. Samuel is, of course, the supposed brother of Zachariah. Your DNA is completely different from that of the Samuel descendant. In fact, it does not match any other Wharton DNA that we have.
Samuel’s family is extremely well documented while Zachariah’s is not. This leads to three possible conclusions. 1. You do not descend from Zachariah. 2. The Samuel descendant does not truly descend from Samuel. This I doubt because his descent is well documented. 3. Zachariah and Samuel are not brothers.
I have always thought that my Whartons descend from Zachariah, though I can’t prove it but can make a very good case for it. My Wharton uncle’s DNA matches that of the Samuel descendant, and I know we do not descend from Samuel.
Regards, Dave
