Thanks for the reply and information, including the Jessie Rice Wharton tip (haven't seen that line, that I can remember). Actually, I don't know if Sarah Wharton is "mine" or not -- that's what I'm trying to sort out. So far, there hasn't been a reply to my other GenForum message, which was a reply to someone who had Sarah marrying "my" John Cockrum/Cochran. For that matter, Sarah, John, and Elizabeth have been such common names that it's possible, if the two families intermarried a lot, that two related Sarah Whartons could've married two related John Cockrums! Also, a Betsy and Eliza in one household could mean that a cousin is staying with them. (My ggg-grandfather, James Crain, has two Rebecca C. Crains with him in 1860, ages 19 and 6. I'm suspecting that the younger one is his wife's daughter by a previous marriage.) You've probably also considered those options. Hopefully, more information will turn up to resolve the mess.
