[I've sent a little more information than this privately].

That was very useful and the names you give were indeed from my family tree. Indeed you go back one more generation than I had - my oldest entry for a definate ancestor Wharram was Matthew Wharram b. 1744 who did marry Barbara (Barbra in the records) Allan. And you have more information than I did.

My parents live in Naburn, at Providence House, which came into the family from the father of Barbara Allan way back in the late 1700s. They have a copy of an Act signed to permit Providence's sale by the local landowner to Mr. Allan by George III I think - I must check on this.

I would be very happy to receive any more information. If you have Family Tree Maker we could perhaps exchange data files?
