My father was Randy Whaples who posted this message in 1999.Randy passed in 2007.My father wsa told Charles Wesley Whaples "Captain Wes", arrived in America in 1900 from Wales. That he traveled from New England to Maryland's Eastern Shore.
What I have found is, Charles W. Whaples was born in Maryland in the late 1870's to Horace Whaples. Horace, was born in Connecticut in 1845. (Ironically that same year, a 26 year old Horace Whaples, passed away and is burried in Connecticut-Not sure if this was a relative and the younger Horace was named in tribute).
Horace married a woman by the last name Hubbard after arriving in Maryland. It is not know why Horace left his family in Connecticut other than he would have been eligible to serve in the Civil War and he chose to leave for Maryland instead- that is all my guess.
Horace was born 1845 to Henry Whaples and Martha Culver of Connecticut.
Henry Whaples was born in 1808 to Arden and Nancy F. Whaples. Arden Whaples was born 1788 to Reuben W. Whaples and Zerviah Lamb.
Reuben W. Whaples was born 1768 to Eli Whaples and Elizabeth Middleton Foster.
Eli Whaples born 1738 was the son of Reuben and Hannah Whaples.
Reuben Whaples was born 1709 to John and Sarah Whaples.
John Whaples, born in Wetherfield, Connecticut was the first Whaples born in the American Colonies in 1667 to Thomas and Rebecca Whaples.
Thomas Whaples was born in the mid 1620's in England. He and his brother, Ephriam, were the first Whaples' in the American Colonies.
Thomas, settled in Wethersfield, Connecticut a town located in now Hartford County. Its known that the area was a haven to Puritan's who moved from northern areas in New England.
My end of the Whaples family had 8 generations born in Connecticut before Horace Whaples left for Maryland
