I don't know.We might have the correct Whan.Scotch verdict of NOT PROVEN.I did not say not a connection, just NOT PROVEN, yet.
The brother John would be of an age to be the John Wann (Whann) with the Revolutionary War land grant who was alive in Harsford County Maryland in 1819.The brother, William, born in 1750s could have had daughters by a first marriage in the 1770s who might have married (Mary) to William Mayne, Sr. and Rachel (to James McKee 1771-1839.If such a daughter Mary, was born in the 1770s she could have been the Mother of William Mayne, Jr. (1798-1869).That same William, born in the 1750s would have been young enough to have had a family by a second marriage including John Whan (1791-1868).
I assume this brother, Williamborn in the 1750s is also among those buried in the grave yard you mentioned.Do we have anything on a wife's name for him?Do we know about these Whan? Both the McKee and the Mayne families were Presbyterians in Lawrewnce County. I am glad we have contacted. It is possible we might have something here.
Let me tosss out some added information.Mary Whan, wife of William Mayne, Sr. had the following children: Samuel (1796-1864) who married Catherine Stewart (1796-1858); William Mayne, Jr. (1798-1869) who married Jane McKee; Mary, who married Peter Book, both buried at Mount Hermon Union Cemetery, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, PA; and John Mayne who married Jane _____ and resided (a few miles away) in what is nowsouthern Mercer County, PA.Moving to Rachel Whan, another possible daughter of William born in 1750s.
Rachel Whan, wife of James McKee (1771-1839) of what was Shenango Township, Beaver County, now Shenago Township of Lawrence County had the following children:James G. McKee; John A. McKee; David A. McKee (born 1824) who married Sarah L. _____; and two daughters, Jane McKee (31 OCT 1811 to 30 MAR 1849) who married William Mayne, Jr. (1798-1869), and Margaret McKee about whom I know little.
James McKee (1771-1839) was a local school teacher as well as farmer.I have more on both the McKee and Mayne connections if this goes anywhere.I mention the children's names of Mary and Rachel Whan because it may be helpful at some point.
