My maiden name is Whall and my father comes from a large family of Whalls from Cawston in Norfolk. His grandparents were William and Jane whose families originated from nearby villages Corpusty, Saxthorpe and Itteringham. I have got as far as my GGGG Grandandfather John Wall a bricklayer from
Saxthorpe.
The difference in the surname spelling from my family comes from when William and Jane Whall in 1851 registered onto the Census, the census clerk said that there is no such surname as Wall and that an 'h' should be included. From then on it was always registered as Whall!

Any information anyone has would be appreciate.
