I have a Posey Whalen/Wayland/Whaling in my lines...My 4th great grandmother was Miriam/Mariam/Mary M. Whalen...she married Alexander Scott and her son William A. Scott is my gr gr gr grandfather. In a deed we found in Rappahannock Co., VA Posey Whalen/Whaling gave her property which was to be in her own name and have nothing to do with her husband and was to go to her children (named) on her death. This was in the 1840' early 1850's the entire family (except Alexander Scott) moved to HenryCo., IL and I have most of them traced from there....but I suspect Posey is her brother...and we thought her father was William Whalen/Wayland/Whaling...(the spelling changes in different documents..even within the same documnet) I have seen the name Posey several times in various books and records but was never sure just how he was connected to Miriam. Also have not found PROOF of her parentage. She was born about 1810 somewhere in that Rappahannock Co., area, Culpeper, Stafford, Fauquier counties..I would guess her brother Posey would be born somewhere within 10 years of that either direction...does this sound like it might be one of the Posey Whalings you are talking about?
