One branch of my family is descended from Isaac and Martha Whaley from Ireland, both age 37 - re: 1871 Census, who settled in Peel County, ie. Orangeville, Ontario. It would appear that perhaps they came to Canada early 1850's. He was a weaver by trade and literate, ie. evidence of some documents he witnessed. They had 7 children by 1871 Lusanna/Susanna 17, Jane 14, Thomas 9, Margaret 8 (my gr. grandmother)m. Joseph Conley (b. 1855) Dec. 28, 1880, James 6, MaryA. 3, and Elizabeth 1.If anyone can add tothis information I would be very pleased to know anything.I pleased to here about Whaley's Corners near Branpton. Can you tellme exactly where it is.I would like to visit the place sometime when I visit my daughter and her family in Brampton.Do you know how Whaley's Corners got it's name?
I recorded a John Whaley b. August 2, 1872 d.July 23, 1958 Greenwood Cemetery, Orangeville, Ontario.
