Steve,
My husband is a direct descendant of Theophilus Whaley and I have been doing his family history for many years. I am very interested in your statement about Richard being the Sheriff of Nottingham during the "time of Robin Hood".
I have him listed as Richard of Doralston. Is this the same man? Do you have the lineage back any further? I am now focusing on the wills of Sir Henry Cromwell and his father Sir Richard Williams (Cromwell). Reading 16th century writting is a real challenge. As you know Frances Cromwell the mother of Theophilus and Edward was the daughter of Sir Henry. Do you have the will of Richard Whaley husband of Frances proving that he is the father of Theophilus (Robert)?
