Ryan,

According to a book written by Charles H. Weygant of Newburgh, N.Y. in 1899, it was martin Weigand that owned and ran the weigand Tavern at Newburgh. He was grandson to Michael and son to Tobias. Was born in Newburgh in 1726 and died in 1792. He married Susan Albertson, daughter of Joseph Albertson. Both Martin and his brother Tobias served in Col. Hasbrouck's regiment until the end of the war. The first general order issued by Col. Hasbrouck after taking command of his regiment was "Newburgh, Dec. 18,1775. Pursuant to the orders of Congress to the regiment under my command to be in readiness upon any proper alarm, I have appointed the place of general rendezvous to be at the house of Martin Weigand,in Newburgh Precinct. signed J. Hasbrouck, Col."
Martin Jr. is the only child.

Evelyn
