William Wever of NY-Vet of War of 1812
Posted by: Sharon Perkins Date: August 23, 2001 at 14:28:12
  of 56

According to census of 1850 William Wever was 52 years old and married to Susannah Unknown-both born in NY but residing in Osceola, Il, Stark Co. Il. They had a large family all of whom were born in NY. He was a Veteran of the War of 1812 and claimed a land warrant in Stark Co.,Il in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 12/15/1817 for 160A. He is buried in Osceola Cemetary,Elmira Township of Stark Co. Il.He is the grandfather of my husbands paternal great grandmother and we are interested in where in NY they originated and what nationality and how long since they came to US. We've come to a dead end. Any help would be appreciated. Incidentially the family spelled the name Wever on Church ledgers but the census takers spelled it Weaver. His granddaughter's obit spelled the name--Wever.
