1. JOHN2 WETZEL (CHARLES1) was born 1852 in MO, and died in Visalia, Tulare Co, CA. He married SARAH JANE CASADA April 11, 1875 in Dade Co, MO, daughter of DAVID CASADA and DIDAMA DOUGLAS. She was born September 29, 1844 in Murray Co, GA.

There were two John Wetzel's in Dade Co, MO. One of them was John G. T. Wetzel who was not who Sarah Jane Casada married. John Christopher Wetzel was b 1809 VA and his son John G. T. Wetzel was born 1845 MO. This family line and Charles Wetzel's family line are both in Dorothy Anderson York's book Dade County Missouri Families Before 1880 Volume 3, Rev. 1999

The other one was who Sarah Jane Casada did marry. He was sometimes referred to as John Whetzel. See below:

John was only age 8 in 1860 so never may have been in the Civil War.
There were several Frank's but not the right places. I think there was a Ferdinand and the Franklin may have been Ferdinand. Heritage Quest digitized and it still wasn't clear.
