I think these South Carolina Wettsteins came from Elizabeth Whetstein, who was a member of an early church there. In Germany there was a prophet by the name of John Ulrich Giessendanner, who was a member of the "Inspirationists." http://www.netside.com/~genealogy/europe.htm
He prophesied to the town council, and went through a good decree of persecution. He moved to America and had great success and was greatly loved as a pastor. Also prominent in the Wettstein history, was a man named Rock, (Roch) of the French Huguenots, who intermarried with the Wettsteins. This was during the early Protestant Reformation. (Trace through Adam Rock)
