Wetmores in Gagetown NB Anglican Church Records & a note about Charles Inglis
I want to mention that there are some Wetmores listed in the Gagetown New Brunswick Anglican Church Baptisms, Burials and Marriages online at the Queens County GenWeb website http://www.rootsweb.com/~nbqueenshttp://www.rootsweb.com/~nbqueens.Click on 'Church Records' at the top of the page.
I've scanned this forum and it looks like the information is well documented from other sources.
I just want to mention one thing that caught my attention. There are two Charles Inglis Wetmores listed; one baptized in 1835 and one on 30 April 1886.
Charles Inglis was the Rector of Trinity Church in New York City.
Charle Inglis performed the marriage of Stephen Sands in 1782 and that's why I've come across his name.I'm researching my gggg grandfather Stephen Sands.I don't know if my Stephen and this Stephen married by Charles Inglis are the same man, but in my researching I read the following in the New York Genealogical and Biographical Record volume 68 page 78 "Records of Trinity Church Parish, Register of Christenings and Births in the Parish of Trinity-Church, in New York Begun in the year of our Lord 1778. . . This is the book which Rev. Charles Inlis, Rector from 1777 carried of to Nova Scotia when he resigned in 1783, and which was recovered."
Charles Inglis was the chaplin for a DeLancey Loyalist regiment during the American Revolution.I found that info at the website The Online Institute for Advanced Loyalist Studies.
My gggg grandfather Stephen Sands was a Loyalist; Queen's Ranger. He went to NB after the war.In 1804 he "applied to Thomas Whitemore" when he was petitioning for land.Seems Thomas Wetmore did legal work for Stephen - so I enjoy seeing the overlapping of names in the various places I research.
