LUCAS LEDGER ITEMS:
E.J. BENWAY and wife left on No. 10 this morning for Talula, Ill., to visit
relatives.
Married, in Vilisca, September 1st at the bride's home, MISS LEONA WATT to
REV. PERRY SYLVARA of Lucas.
MRS. JOHN SCHNABLY west of town is confined to the house with rheumatism.
GEORGE and PAULINE JEFFRIES of Monmouth, Ill., returned home today after a weeks' visit with their grandparents, W.H. NICKELL and wife.
MRS. J.W. KEEN returned today from Colorado Springs, Colo., where she has
spent the past six months.
MISS NEVA KEEN of Norwood left for Colorado Springs, Tuesday where she goes to keep house for two of her brothers.
MISS MARY ANN DAVIS who has spent the past two months with relatives in
Lucas, returned to her home in Chicago Monday evening.
MRS. ANNA PETERSON, aged 92, died at the home of her son, A.P. PETERSON yesterday after a lingering illness. We will publish an obituary next week.
PROF. JOHN M. STOKE returned home last Friday from a visit with his parents
at West Plains, Mo. He was accompanied home by U.G. WETHINGTON and family of Goltry, Okla. MRS. W. is a sister of MR. STOKE's.
The many friends of JOHN GRIFFITHS and wife of Taylorville, Ill., will be
pleased to hear their son, TUDOR took the first prize in a baby contest held
at that place. The prize was a beautiful gold locket and chain.
JAMES BAUGH of Otter Creek Township, died at the home of his son, FRED
CONRAD, Monday evening at 5 o'clock from paralysis, aged 76 years. Funeral
services were held at Bethel Chapel on Wednesday, conducted by Elder Young.
ELLEN PAULINE JOHNSON, the infant daughter of FRANK JOHNSON and wife, was born February 13, 1908 and died August 30th, aged six months and 17 days. Funeral services were held at the home in Whitebreast Township at 1:30 p.m. last Monday, conducted by Rev. W.B. Pond and the remains were laid to rest in the Grimes Cemetery. A father, mother and one sister are left to mourn her departure.
