I know many of those families; the Okuley's, Gerschutz's, Giesige's, and the Swary's in particular. Quick question...is it Bauer or Bower? There is a Bower family in the Holgate area and they have been farming in that area for some time now. I'm related, it seems to nearly everyone in the region:-) My Grandparents are members of Sacred Heart and my dad and 10 of his 12 brothers and sisters all went to the private school there until it closed. Many of my relatives that have remained Catholic attend St. Mary's in Holgate now.

My Mom's family is all from the Putnam County area; Miller City to be precise. My Mom was a Bidlack, My Grandmother and Rigg and my Great Grandmother a Noirt. My Grandma B. still owns a few hundred acres of farm land in and around Miller City and Neuber.

The Westrick's make it hard because so many of the families were soooo big and they seem to remain larger than most still today. I have somewhere aound 48 first cousins alone. My Dad's youngest brother for instance; his wife just gave birth to Leo, their 9th child.
