Lura Lyman married Washington Franklin Weston on March 08, 1812.They had 2 sons, Ezra Lyman Weston born March 14, 1813 in Watertown, NY, and Montgomery, born & died July 27, 1814 (also in Watertown). Washington served as secretary to General Brown at the Battle of Sackett's Harbor.Washington died June 6, 1815 in Castleton, VT before the birth of their 3rd son, Justus (Justice) Franklin Weston on July 5, 1815.
Lura was born on August 24, 1789 in Whitingham, VT.Lura and Sarah were twins.Sarah died as an infant. They were born in Windham County, Vermont.Lura's mother, Clarissa Hitchcock Lyman died April 11, 1838 in Castleton, VT.
Lura came to Illinois with son Justus Franklin Weston sometime around 1853.She had married a Jonathan Orms, probably in Vermont, on 10/21/1841.Per Vermont Historical Magazine, Fair Haven Vermont chapter, Jonathan Orms "married for his third wife widow Lura Weston, a dau. of Ebenezer (Eleazer?) Lyman, and sister of Hiram and Eleazur Lyman. She survives him, and resides at the West."Lura Lyman (Weston) Orms is buried in Kaneville, IL.
The Lyman genealogy indicates that the Lyman line which Lura descends from is "Richard Lyman, son of Henry and Phyllis who was born at High Ougar, Essex County, about 25 miles east by south from London. Was baptized in 1580.Paid taxes in 1610--27- & 29.In 1629 he sold all his lands and in 1631 in the company of his wife and children and also his brother Henry and wife, he migrated to America.(His brother and wife died that same year leaving no children.)So Richard was left the original immigrant to America."
I also had in my notes that Richard Lyman arrived in Boston on a ship named "Lion" circa 1630, and that he traveled with a Rev. Hooker with the party that settled Hartford, CT.Does that coincide with your info?
I am interested in further information about Washington Weston's family.I believe that he descends from a Weston who settled in Salem, MA circa 1630.
