Ann Funk married Thomas Westlake on Jan 25, 1820 in Greenbrier County, VA. The only Funks in Greenbrier at this time were the Abraham Funk family. Abraham lived there from 1816 through 1823 according to the personal property tax records of that county. Prior to that he lived in Augusta County from 1802 through 1815 as listed in that county's personal tax records. From 1795 through 1801 Abraham lived in Rockingham County, VA. He married Sarah Alford on October 15, 1798. In 1789 he is listed in the property tax records of Augusta County. His father Henry Funk and mother Barbara Showalter Funk moved to Virginia in 1786 from Pennsylvania. His grandfather was Bishop Henry Funck from either Holland or the Palatinate in Germany. His grandmother was Anne Meyer.
Abraham Funk was listed in the 1830 federal census in Boone Co., MO. four lines above Peter McClane who married Peggy (Margaret) Funk in Greenbeier County, Virginia on October 3,1822. She was the second of 5 daughters and 2 sons.
On July 15, 1816 in Chancery Supreme Court of Staunton, Augusta Co. Abraham reclaimed the title to 10 acres of land deeded to him by Henry Alford and his mother Mary on August 22, 1801. His brother Christian Funk and brother-in-law Jacob Earbaugh had for some reason taken the land. On October 7, 1816 he sold his land to George Huston for $1. His wife is listed as Sally Alford and his residence as in Greenbrier.
I hope this is of help to you.
