We must be related in some way because my great grandfather was Ibe Ahlfs. Ibe Ahlfs came from Petkum, Ostfriesland, Germany, and Antje (Annie) Westendorf his wife came from Gross Midlum, Ostfriesland Germany. This Westendorf family (Hinderk Berends Westendorf and his wife Geeske Folkerts Poppen) came to the U.S. on the ship Donau that left from Bremen nd arrived in New York on April 25, 1885. They eventually moved to Buffalo Center, Iowa and died there. They were buried in Graceland Cemetary. I actually have a picture of them and of their gravestone. I grew up about 20 miles from Buffalo Center and my grandparents lived there the last 30 or so years of their lives. I would apprecatite any information you have regarding this family.
