In December 1841 in Benton County, AL., William Westbrook married Cara M Cary, born about 1826, SC. William was not listed in the 1840 census for AL and may have been born in NC. By the 1850 census, Cara was in Coosa County, AL with four of William's children, but he is not listed. By 1860, she had shortened Westbrook to Brooks, remarried and was in Holmes County, FL. Does anyone have a William who would fit here? I chased the surname Brooks for 8 years until DNA testing proved Westbrook to be the correct name, but all the Williams seem to be taken! The DNA takes him back to James Westbrook, the Immigrant, but there is a huge gap. Wish more Westbrooks would test to help fill my, and many others, vacant spaces! Many thanks for reading!
