Could you be related to this man? Here is what I know.
John Isaac West died at the gallows 5 Oct 1878 in Boonville, Cooper Co. MO. He was described a a wanderer from Illinois. His aged parents traveled from Chapin, Morgan Co. IL to witness his demise. John Isaac West was born about 1855 (was 24 at his death).
I have found two 1870 census records in Pike Co. IL (near Morgan County) which contain West families with sons named John of appropriate age. John (b. 1855 Eng, son of Robert and Sarah)and John (b. 1855 IN son of William and Nancy) Another is named Isaac, b. 1860 in Grundy Co. to Charles and Maria--with an aged grandfather in the household, Ebenezer.
From Land Patents I know that some Wests took out patents in Morgan County IL. John West, 1856; George W. West 1836; Amos S. West 1830.
I would like to correspond with anyone who might be related to John Isaac West or any of the above.
