I am searching for the parentage of my ggggrandmother, Nancy West born in Wilson Co.TN- who married John Whitlock, and their connections (possibly) to the family of Isaac West of Greenville, SC. whose children married into the Belk family. The Belk family married into my McElroy family in that area and this is what I have on them:
Mary Ann McElroy- b @1721- died after 1800- Mecklenburg Co. NC. – married John Belk, b 1720 died 1804- about 1741- Craven Co. NC- In 1790 Census of Mecklenburg, Waxhaw Dist. John Belk, Sr. will dated Jul 20, 1804.
Mary Ann was the daughter of John McElroy- b 1690 in? -died 1772- Baltimore Co. Maryland, now Harford at Joppa, Maryland. He married probably Frances Durham, before 1713.
She may have been daughter of Samuel Durham- will date Feb 9, 1700- Filed Mar 8, 1703/4. Samuel named as legatees, Mary and Frances Durham-
Archibald McElroy, brother to Mary Ann was also living in Craven Co. NC. on the Neuse River,
on Falling Creek.

a. John Belk, III- b 1742- Craven Co. NC. – died Jan 13, 1822- Lancaster Co. SC- married 1. Susanna West or Chamberlain, in 1767 2. Hannah Nelson- Their children:
a. John – b d – married Mary Ann Montgomery
b. Rebecca- b d – married Richard Cowsar
c. Darling- b 1785 d Nov 11, 1844- married in 1790 to Jane?
d. Washington- b d married? Montgomery
e. Bernice- b d - married James Humphries/Humphreys
f. Thomas Milburn- b 1794 d 1875- married 1. Mary Lucinda Craig 2. Elizabeth R. Hood
g. Mary Ann- b d – married Joseph Montgomery
Other children of Mary Ann and John:
b. Darling- b 1735-1832- married Agnes Nelson c. Nicey- b d – married Archibald McCorkle- McCorkles of Rowan Co.
d. Frances- b d married James Montgomery
e. Gracy- b d – married William Calvert
f. Britain- b 1746 d 1790- married Mary Baker- Killed in Am. Rev. War.
The McElroys are of Harford, Maryland and migrated southward- mine to Louisiana thru Jackson Co. Georgia and Dallas, Co. Alabama. Would appreciate hearing from anyone on these, as the Whitlocks also migrated to Louisiana with the Rains family and lived in Marthaville, Sabine Parish.
