William West was born abt. 1791, reportedly in "NC" and was living at Houston Co. GA by abt 1820. A number of children were born to him while living at "Baron's Lane" (this may have been included in Macon Co. GA at its formation from Houston Co. In 1865, William West died having had several additional children by his wife Mary Johnson (Mrs. Gammage). His wife in the 1850 census was named Jane. This William West was well off financially but his Confederate Money (reportedly a huge sum) was worthless at the time of his death and his estate was valued at only $11,000. There is another William West in the county but his relationship to our William is not known.
Does anyone have information on the parents and ancestors of William West (1791-1865) of Baron's Lane, Houston-Macon Co. GA?
