Glad to hear from you. Thanks for the input. My small amount of experience told me that the Wescom spelling could easily be a corruption of Wescott: spelling and writing were not the best in the early 1800's and back. For instance, I've made some small headway by searching US Census records for 'Westcot' and 'Wescot,' finding matches proof that certain people listed as such were actually Wesctotts or Wescotts.
I haven't had the same luck with Wescom, so I've pretty much given up that there is a link.
