The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, August 6, 1908

At the home of the bride's parents, MR. and MRS. WILL WERTS, Wednesday
evening, August 5 at 8 o'clock, occurred the wedding of their daughter, ELMA
to HOMER E. HANCOCK. MISS HAZEL WERTS sang "Love's Old Sweet Song" followed by Mendelsohn's Wedding March played by MISS NORA WERTS to which the contracting parties took their respective places under a large bell flanked on either side with green and white flowers. The beautiful ring ceremony was performed by Rev. S.A. Sote. The happy couple were unattended. The bride was attired in a beautiful gown of White French lawn trimmed in lace while the groom was dressed in the conventional black.

The color scheme throughout was green and white. In the dining room green
and white ribbons festooned from ceiling to corners of table on which was
green and white candles, also a large wedding cake. A delicious two-course
luncheon was served. The MISSES NORA and HAZEL WERTS, DELL HANCOCK and ARTHUR WERTS acted as waiters. The bride is a most charming young lady, of a sweet disposition and numbers her friends by her acquaintances. She had been a teacher in our Russell school for several years and has given excellent satisfaction. The groom is a young man of sterling qualities and in every way is worthy of the bride he has won.
