I have only just stumbled on your message. Elmira was, I believe, the daughter of Vice-Consul Francis Werry, British Vice-Consul in Aleppo, b.1810, d.1888, who married Janette Reddish of London in 1837. This Francis Werry was the grandson of Consul Francis Werry, who went out to Smyrna as the Levant Company Consul in 1793, and stayed on to become the first King's Consul. His son, and father of Vice-Consul Francis, was Consul Nathaniel Werry, HBM (His Brittanic Majesty's)Consul in Aleppo, Beirut and Damascus. The Werry graves still stand in the little graveyard of the Protestant church in Buca, Turkey, and I have some photographs of them.
