I too am a descendant of Hermann Heinrich Wempe, whom I believe is the same one you referred to. He emigrated from Oldenberg, Germany, as a young man, and after a brief period in Cincinnati settled near what is now Teutopolis, Illinois. After his wife Alexandrina died in childbirth, he moved west and the family eventually settled near the Brown/Nemaha county line in Kansas. My grandfather, August Joseph Wempe, was one of twins born near Fidelity, KS, in 1881. His oldest son John August Wempe, my father, was born near Seneca, KS, in 1909, but moved to Hutchinson, KS, in 1935. I was born there in 1941, but now live in Pennsylvania. I suspect we are not too distantly related.
