Thank you Peter for even greater insight. Very cool! I'm wondering if old Swiss barber shops also had areas where you could take baths or even bath houses? In the old American west, when you came in off a cattle drive into a strange town, the cowboys could go to the local barber shop for a shave and a bath. Is sounds like Badertshcer could have meant either a bath or a barber shop if this was the case. Do you know if this was true?

Also, I came across another old Swiss surname, Fuhrer or Fauhrer? Do you know what these might also mean? Thanks for your fantastic help!

Fred
