Bath master is a good opportunity, all the more as an old relative of you is of the same opinion. However it's not a fact as long as it isn't proved. So there also was the word "Bader". This is an old word for barber. Since there were more barbers than bath master certainly, this possibility is as well as the first (if not the better). The syllable "tscher" may have the same meaning as in the English word "butcher". Both endings get exactly just definite.

I would describe the name as follows: "The sense and the language of the last name "Badertscher" is not clear because of the unclear ending "tscher" or "ertscher." Since the last name Badertscher seams to be divided in the three sylables "bad" "er" "tscher". Bad indicates "bath", "bader" is an old word for "Barber" and "Tscher" may indicate that the word refers to a profession. This sylable "tscher" you speak exactly as "tcher" in "butcher". An old source named Badertscher confirmed the sence of his last name as bath master."
