Dear list,
My GGGgrandfather John Welty was born in York County Pennsylvania on March 1, 1827. His ancestry is one of my last remaining brickwalls. From his obituary and other records, I know that he moved to Ohio in the late 1840's and then to Michigan in the 1860's where he shows up in the US Census for the first time in 1870. His death record says his father's name was George Welty, and his obit says he was born in York County and had a half-brother named Benjamin Fink. My Grandma (Welty) Hamman says he may have been an orphan. Have any of you ever come across my John Welty or have any clues where I might find his parents? I've tried York County Historical Society and they were unsuccessful. Also have checked various Welty websites, ancestry.com, etc. Thanks a bunch in advance for your response.
Best regards,
Brian Hamman
