Katherine 'Sorch' Welton was born October 16, 1918, in Sterling,
Colorado,
to John and Maria (Lie) Sorch. She passed away September 15, 2006, at
the
age of 87.

Katherine was one of 12 children. Her parents and two older sisters
came to
the United States from Russia in 1913. They resided in Hastings,
Nebraska,
until 1915, at which time they moved to Sterling, Colorado.

On May 8, 1933, she was married in San Luis Obispo, California, to
Corporal
Kenneth Russell Welton. This union was blessed with two daughters,
Pamela
Kay Wyant and Kathleen Marie Provines, both of Sterling, and one son,
Kenneth Dean Welton of Wyoming.

Katherine was a very dedicated mother and wife. She loved to sew and go
on
many fishing trips with her family. During the winter months, she
worked at
a mission in Phoenix, where she and her husband would spend the winter.
In
1997, Katherine moved to Sterling.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Russell Welton,
mother,
father, five sisters and one brother.

Survivors include: her two daughters, Pamela Wyant and husband Eugene,
and
Kathleen Provines and husband Rick, all of Sterling; one son, Kenneth
Dean
Welton of Wyoming; four grandchildren, Troil Eugene Wyant of Sterling,
Katherine Noud and husband Jamie of Wray, Jason Totten and wife Lisa of
Sterling, and Yvonne King and husband Craig of Sterling; four
great-granddaughters, Larissa and Shannon Totten, Kaylee Sickler and
Jessica
King; three great-grandsons, Russell Sickler, and Christopher and
Geoffory
King; one brother, Jake Sorch and wife Marrietta of Kansas; three
sisters,
Easter Pabst and husband Samuel of Fort Morgan, and Lydia Meyer and
Hattie
McClanahan, both of Sterling; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. September 18, 2006, at Baucke
Mortuary with the Rev. Trent Young officiating. Interment will be made
in
Yuma Cemetery with arrangements by Baucke Mortuary of Yuma, Colorado.
