Hi, I am the great grand daughter of John Dey Welton. He and Eliza Jane Persse had two daughters, Sarah and my grandmother, Isabelle Mandaville Welton. Belle married Leverett Thompson Newton from Akron, NY. I think they met at "teacher's college" in Johnstown (I haven't researched it yet). I have hundreds of letters between these grandparents that I have yet to transcribe. He was a school superintendent in Ohio and later became a real estate attorney. She was a serious DAR and Genealogist.

Anyway, they moved to Portland, Oregon around 1912 to take advantage of an inheritance from Isabelle's aunt Sarah Jane Persse. They had a daughter, Enid Eunice and John Almon, my father. Enid married Dean Caufield Daily, a native of Los Angeles and raised three sons there. I have a sister, Estelle Marie Newton Mortensen and brother, Dale Almon Newton. And then there's the next generation and another.
