I've never found any connection to the middle name 'Wilson'. A board poster from about 10 years ago was convinced it was because Thomas Welsh's wife had a maiden name of Wilson, but i am at a brick wall.
I do know that James Wilson Welsh's father, Thomas was in the military, thus the time in Quebec, and some folks think he was buried there. James Wilson Welsh was a sailor and probably travelled quite a bit when he was younger.
Most of James's family was born in the Pembrokshire, Wales area of Wales, immigrated to Coaldale Penns., about 1870, possibly spent some time in Ark., then moved to McAlester, Indian Territory (later to be Oklahoma), which is where many of the Welsh's are buried.
Thomas married Elizabeth McDonald of Carrol Co., Maryland, but I do not know if he was ever actually in Maryland.
