The story given to me is that the Quinlan family came over from Cork County, Ireland, by ship. Mariah Stanton, born about 1830 or 1840 married William Quinlan at the Bishop's house in Cleveland, Ohio. Mariah Stanton's sister Catherine Stanton (abt 1830 Ireland) married John Welsh b. abt 1830 Ireland.

Mariah Stanton Quinlan and William Quinlan had these children:
(1) Patrick Quinlan, b. 1862 Missouri; d. 1942 Pilot Grove, Cooper, Missouri. He married Anna Wittman b. 1870 Missouri; d. Jun 1962
(2) Mary Ann Quinlan b. 16 May 1854 Cleveland, Ohio; d. 1885. She married John Thomas Brownfield b. 1853 Pilot Grove, Cooper, Missouri.
(3) Teresa "Essie" Quinlan b. Mar 1859 Missouri. She married John R. Conway, b. 1853 Connecticut
(4) William Quinlan b. abt 1860 Missouri. He married Catherine Wittman.
(5) Catherine "Kate" Quinlan b. date unknown; married William Wittman, b. Oct 1856 Missouri
