Henneberry - Welsh Connection
In the 1870 census for Covington, Kenton County, KY, there are 3 Welsh (surname) orphan children; John - 8, Patrick - 6, and Catherine - 4, living with a Patrk (Patrick) Henneberry (b. 1825 in Ireland) family. The Welsh children are not in that home in 1860 or 1880. The rest of the Henneberry family, his wife Mary, and his children Anna, Bridget and John are also on that census.

My family stories say the Welsh family I'm looking for was Irish and that Henry Welch or his parents came from Ireland to Ellis Island. In talking to Edwards Granddaughter in law, a few years ago, she said that according to her mother in law (Edward's daughter), Edward was an orphan born in Covington, Kenton Co., KY, in 1862 (which would fit with John above) possibly from a Catholic orphanage and that he had either two brothers and a sister or a brother and a sister. At some point due to their parent's death they were separated and never saw each other again. She didn't know if they were separated in Ireland or here. She also didn't know at what point or where their parents died.

Edward Welsh always said his father was Henry Welsh and his mother was Mary Hennerry, Hennaurry (or a spelling of that,... could be Henneberry?). That info was confirmed on his death certificate, but too blurry to see the exact spelling. Our Edward named his sons John H (Henry?) and Edward R. In the 1900 census for Poplar Grove, Owen County KY, he list New York as his father's birthplace and Illinois as his mother's birthplace.

I did find a Patrick Welsh living in the 1880 census with a Perry family, age 17 and working as a farm hand, but no sign of John or Catherine.

I would like to find the connection between the Henneberrys and Welsh's. I am hopeful that these are the orphans I've been looking for and that these Henneberrys may be his wife's people. If you know anything at all about the connection between these Henneberrys and Welsh I would love to hear from you.
Thanks!
D
