The father of James Welsh who married Mary Peck was most probably John Welch/Welsh b. Jan. 16, 1729-30 d. 1817 at “Welch’s Folly” m. Mary Rawlings. Mary Rawlings’ brothers were Aaron Rawlings (1738-1798) & Moses Rawlings (1745-1809).
John Welsh was made reference to (by Benjamin Elmer Welsh in his Westmoreland Co. Biography) as the Rev. War ancestor of our lineage. John Welsh b. 1729 m. Mary Rawlings was most probably the brother of Robert Welsh Sr. of Washington Co. Pa. who d. in 1794 (Georgianna Chamberlain’s ancestry “Welsh Family History 1976”)
As stated previously, and again in our text and footnotes of "Welsh/Welch Family Who Settled 1796 in Beaver Co. Pa., we are also interested in the fact that there was a Rev. War patriot Lt. Aaron Welsh / Welch born in 1755 who married Elizabeth Franklin at St. James Parish, Anne Arundel Co. Md. in 1778. Aaron was a Rev. War soldier from Maryland. It is surmised he was a brother of our James Welsh born 1758 and uncle to William Welsh, our 2nd great grandfather. This Lt. Aaron was purported to be the son of John Welch and his wife Mary Rawlings (John Welch born 1/16/1729/30 and died at "Welch's Folly" Will 1817).

There is a record in the newspaper "Beaver Argus", 18 Nov. 1846, "Seth M. Welsh, Chippewa Twp married Sarah Ann Sheets of Unity, Columbiana County, OH., by Rev. G. D. Kinnear 12 Nov. 1846." [Rev. Kinnear was traced to the Methodist Episcopal Church in New Brighton, PA, but just prior to the marriage he was sent to the Beaver Creek Mission, which extends from Pittsburgh south, west into a large section of Ohio].

'Little Charley was a good boy. His sufferings, of two days and nights duration were severe; yet he never murmured nor complained. Observing his mother in tears, he said, "Don't cry; it makes me so sorry." A few hours before the spirit left the body he requested parents, brothers, and sisters to come to him that he might bid them farewell. He took each by the hand and kissed them. His mother was loth to give him up. He lay a few moments, then reached his hands out to her saying, "Oh, Mother, let me go to sleep."
He afterwards requested them to sing, "Happy day when Jesus washed my sins away." When his voice failed him, he pointed his little hand up toward heaven and smiled. And thus he passed over the Jordan of death, into Glory. While the parents and family feel sad and mourn their loss, their loss is his eternal gain.
