I am working on my POOL/POOLE family tree and a Caroline Elizabeth Pool born 1861 in Walworth, Surrey, England married George William Chapman Wellsby born in 1859 in Worcester, England. George was listed with the Pool family in the 1881 England Census as a boarder. That is how he met Caroline, who was the oldest daughter of William and Caroline Pool. The lived on Brighton Road in Croydon, Surrey - St. Peters. Their marriage was registered in Croydon district in 1881 Apr-May-June volume 2a page 359. The next place that I find Caroline E. Wellsby is in the 1901 England Census. She is living or visiting her now widowed father along with other family members, who appear to be visiting also. The problem is that Caroline is not there with her husband George, nor does it show her with children. Can anyone help with what has happened to George between the time they were married in 1881 and the 1901 Census where Caroline is alone? Does anyone know who his Wellsby family was? The surname on George's birth registration is spelled with 2 'L's. On the 1881 Census is spelled with only 1. On the 1901 Census it is spelled correctly (Caroline Wellsby). I hope someone can help me. Thanks. Judy
