Hi Judy, glad to hear from a distant relative! I've been researching our Wellwood line for many years now, poking into the Fredericton archives, NB cemeteries, and online correspondence with generous individuals to try to piece everything together as much as possible. My line descends through Robert who married Jane Cail. Their youngest son Jonathan married Mabel Hazlett. Jonathan's youngest son Allen married Rosemarie Lauze. These are my parents. I have John Wellwood being born abt 1790-1864. His wife Mary Brown died bet 1840 (birth of Margaret Ann) to 1861 (not listed in census of Kent County). I do have Samuel being born 1825-1882, Henry 1829-1870, Thomas 1815-1899, but I have William being born 1803-1887. His date of birth is very hard to pinpoint as his age varies with each census. According to an older descendant of William through the Farrer line, her Aunts many many years ago used to sit around and joke how William would always try to portray himself as being younger to everyone. I also have Robert being born 1832-1913 (1832 on his headstone and retrieved from other sources). James 1837-1890 married Isabella Agnew in 1866. James' obituary lists him being buried at the Presbyterian Church Cem. in Millbranch. Most likely he's in an unmarked grave as I couldn't locate it. Margaret Ann 1840-1897 married Thomas T. Stevens in 1862 and is buried at the Elmwood Cem. in Moncton. I did come across a baptism record for Wallace March 5, 1831. According to the 1861 census, John, William, Thomas, Samuel, and Henry were from Leitrim Co., Ireland. Wallace wasn't listed in the census so he could've been born in either country. From other sources, Robert was born in Richibucto Harbour. By this timeframe I'm assuming they emigrated around 1830-1831. The only ones that I have located headstones for are: John, Samuel, Robert, and Margaret Ann. Mary, Thomas, William, Wallace, and James I could not locate, even after searching the cemeteries where some of them are listed in. I also took pictures of the headstones of our relatives, along with areas of interest, churches, etc. You can say I'm a picture hound. A picture tells a thousand words. Maybe someday I'll get enough nerve to go to the house in West Branch and knock to see if I can take some pictures. Supposedly the first Wellwood house was a log cabin and was situated next to the river. There are suppose to be two or three unmarked graves nearby. I'm thinking these might contain Mary (the mother) and Wallace (maybe from the diptheria?). But there might've been other children or adults not recorded anywhere.Story has it that there were markers for these graves but were pulled up by someone generations ago to stack logs on that part of the property. There's also a Wellwood tale from years back of a Wellwood man being eaten by a bear. The only thing they found was his boots years later. I'm not sure how much info. you are looking for, just let me know and I'll try to fill in the spaces as much as I can. As you can tell I love talking about our genealogy as there aren't many from our line out there. If you happen to have any old photos of the Wellwood family that you would like to share, I would love to add them to my collection, as small as it is. Just let me know the costs and I'll send it your way. I do have a picture of Phoebe Wellwood with her sister Mary Jane. Take Care, Tom Wellwood
