I have found more Wells information over the weekend regarding my line. I do wish to know how James Elisha Wells ties into my line.
My g-grandmother as Rose Ida Wells (b 1878). I have her in a Dickson TN census from 1880 living with her parents Cornelius (b 1852) and Margaret (Walton) Wells. Her siblings were William (b 1873), Thomas (1874), Antney (probably Anthony)(b 1876) and Rose Ida (age 2)
On the same 1880 census, and it looks like next door, her grandfather lived (Cornelius dad). Henry Wells (b 1823) with Miriam (Starke) Wells and Sarah Wells(age 15) and Frances (female age 16)
Then a few doors or farms down on the same census from them are the family of William Wells (Cornelius brother, Rose Ida's uncle) (b 1849), wife is Libbie, son is Franklin age 7, Mirtle (female age 6) Walter age 4, Alda age 2 and Clayton 1/2 year old.
Then I have Cornelius Wells (Rose Ide Wells father) on an 1870 census in Dickson County with Henry Wells (age 48), Miriam (Starke) Wells (age 48), William (son age 22) Cornelius Wells(son age 19), Martha (daughter age 8) and Sallie H (daughter age5).
Henry Wells father was David Milton Wells. He was born about 1746 in North Carolina, it appears he had a brother named Jesse. David Milton Wells had 2 sons and 6 daughters on an 1840 census from Robertson County, TN. No names of children given. David Milton Wells married Nancy Woodard.
I'm curious about your Wells because I recall their names being on the same page of a census I saw recently, just a few doors down from my Wells. I'm trying to back track and recall which census that was.
