Gayle;

I'm writing only because of the coincidences I find in your posting. To start, MY mother's name was also Gayle Patton. She was b. 5.18.1915 at the Salvation Army facility in Portland to "Carrie Patton", but was never legally adopted by the unmarried couple to whom the SA "placed" her at the tender age of 2 weeks. With no legal adoption, her birth certificate was never sealed so I know from mom's recorded original birth certificate that her mother (Carrie) was 24 years old when she delivered her (IE: Therefore, Carrie's birth was in 1890 or 1891 and in DesMoines, IA). Portland's City Directories carried Carrie as "Mrs." several times and once as "wid Hugh". So, does CARRIE PATTON or HUGH PATTON ring any bells with you? Of the hundreds of Pattons I've researched in Oregon, "Lorenzo Patton" somehow rings one for me. I'll check my files and await your response to this posting.
