My son is also named Michael.
It's nice to hear from a "new" relative. My information says that Charles Wellman was born on July 9, 1830. On ancestry.ca, he is listed as a widower in a marriage to Sarah Dustin(age 23) in 1873. His parents are given as Thomas and Hannah and his birthplace as Hastings County. The marriage took place in Chatham. Thomas was my three times great-grandfather.
I will do some more searching. Perhaps Isabella was his first wife.
There as another Wellman named Charlie, my great-uncle whom I met several times on the Wellman property near
Wellman's Corners. He died in 1985 or thereabouts.
I have more information if you are interested. Do you know about the murder?
