Ancestors of Henry Wellman
Reposted with Corrections and updates:
Hiram S. Wellman is my maternal Great-great grandfather and is buried in South Ford River Cemetery, Delta County, Michigan.
His parents were Henry Wellman (b. abt. 1814 in Massachusetts) and Maria Mosher (possibly Mosier) (b. Abt. 1824 in New York). They married about 27 Feb 1845 (location unknown).
Hiram's siblings (all born in Michigan):
John H. WELLMAN b. 6/1846
Jasper E. WELLMAN b. 7/1851
Franklin Lowell WELLMAN b. 10 Oct. 1858 - d. abt. 1914
Abba M. WELLMAN b. 1863
I've also found some of their descendants still living in Jackson County, Michigan (See U.S. Census 1850~1930 for Jackson City, Sandstone Twp., and Summit Twp. in Jackson County, Michigan).
Hiram served in the Civil War with Sherman on his March to the Sea in Company A of the 15th Michigan Volunteer Regiment. He was a charter member of the GAR in Delta County, Michigan.
He enlisted in Bay City, Bay County, Michigan on 22 April 1864 and Mustered out 13 August 1865 with a rank of Private.
On 03 July 1869 Hiram married Euretta Etta CORNELL (Daughter of James CORNELL and Elizabeth Jane SOUTHARD) on Washington Island, Door County, Wisconsin.
Euretta was born 09 July 1853 on St. Martin's Island, Delta County, Michigan, and died 16 December 1948 in Ford River, Delta County, Michigan. She is also buried in the South Ford River Cemetery.
Hiram died 25 April 1928.
Hiram and Euretta had 13 Children:
Sarah Ann, Thomas Ardee, William James, Edward Hiram, Myrtle, Viretta, Michael, Euretta Virginia, Philip, Theodore, Elizabeth Mary, Simeon, and Joseph.
I'm currently stalled at Henry and Maria; I don't know their dates of Death or where they're buried, but I'm fairly certain that it's somewhere in Jackson County, Michigan!
Anyone??
